Yesterday was 3 years since my Dad passed away and Tues will be 3 years for Mike. Sure doesn't seem that long ago.
Sure miss them, but there is nothing better than being around all of you and involved with this organization, can't even say how much you have all helped me make it thru these 3 years. So glad to have all of you!!

Message: I've exchanged emails with the family I think you refer to. They seem to be going through the right steps. The VA automatically assigns a 30% disability rating. But they are going through the process to get that increased. I've recommended an appointment with the neurologist at the VA med center here in Spokane, and they're trying to make that happen.
Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) said they will help them with that.

Message: We have a PALS that has been told by the VA that ALS is just a default diagnosis because they don't know what you have. Has anyone else run into this and what impact could does this potentially have on benefits.

Message: Being a part of this group is inspiring. It effects me so positively to be with the PALS/CALS who do so much to live well with ALS. And, it effects me so positively to be with the 'survivors' who do so much, so well, to honor their loved ones by serving and loving others.
Tips: Any of you PALS have a good tip or two to pass on to others???? They other day when we were looking at the jar grippers, Brenda suggested they also be used to put a plate on so the plate wouldn't slip away from the PALS. Good idea!

Message: My brother passed away to ALS. The newsletter is such a delight to receive each month. I read it from cover to cover the minute it comes in the mail. My only comment is "IT'S TOO SHORT, it needs to be longer." Thanks so much.

Message: I have had the pleasure to be a person who has received the generous meals and now have the ability to deliver them to the PALS. The visits are so special, almost as important as the meals themselves. It is a wonderful project that has been taken on by the ALSSO group. Dan I want you to know that I too am now the proud owner of a snow blower which took me months to get my hands on, there were none to be found, but you can all thank me for the snow melting because of my new purchase. I will some day be able to fire it up I am sure!!

Message: Wonderful Potluck in CDA on 11/11/08. What a great relaxed atmosphere at the Couer d'Alene mtg where ALSSO brought a pot luck dinner. Good food and awesome company with our PALS/CALS. Made connections with several new families in the Idaho area which is always a pleasure.

Had a few falls over the last month, but nothing serious.
Dreading the arrival of Winter and the snow it will bring. So we've decided to buy a snow blower. That will be more of a service to all our neighbors than for us, since I know once I buy one, we'll get no snow all season.

Message: I had a wonderful visit with Debbie three days ago while she delivered the wonderful food provided by ALSSO. Please know it is truly appreciated since Holly and Erica both work weekends, and without them Andrew and I are relegated to smoothies, Subway and whatever else we can come up with. And it really helps Holly out.
Had a fall yesterday trying to carry the trash can out to the curb. Nothing serious - just some bad scrapes and sprained fingers.
I will try to attend the next meeting at the Argonne library. When I found out about the recent meeting, it kind of caught me off guard and we already had plans with Andrew.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in preparing and delivering the food.
We really do appreciate that and all the other support

Message: I just wanted to say thanks for the food and very nice visit on Saturday. I'm not sure who all was involved but I know Debbie, Jennifer, Pat, George and others had a hand in it. Probably many others
Anyway, it was a good visit and I hope I didn't bore the video guy too much.
We got our tree down the rest of the way today, and then more work scheduled for Wednesday.
